Austell, Georgia is a beautiful city situated in Cobb County. It stands in the northwestern part of the state, about 18 miles west of downtown Atlanta. Austell was founded in the late 1800s and was originally known as "Salt Springs" due to the natural salt deposits in the area. The city was later renamed Austell in honor of General Alfred Austell, a prominent industrialist and railroad executive. Today Austell is populated by 8 thousand inhabitants.
