Isabella County is situated in the central part of Michigan. The area of Isabella County is about 578 square miles. The county was formed in 1831 from part of Mackinac County and unorganized territory, and it is populated today by 65 thousand residents. Mt. Pleasant is the county seat of Isabella County. The county is named after Queen Isabella I (1451-1504) of Spain, under whose patronage Columbus undertook his voyages.
