Currituck County is situated in the northeastern corner of North Carolina. The area of Currituck County is about 526 square miles. The county was set up in 1668 from Albemarle County, and it is populated today by 30 thousand residents. Currituck is the county seat of Currituck County. The county is named after Traditionally said to be an Indian word for wild geese, also rendered Coratank.
