It was named after Richard Montgomery, a Brigadier General in the Continental Army who was killed in the Battle of Quebec during the American Revolutionary War. The township is bordered by Hillsborough Township to the north, Rocky Hill to the east, Hopewell Township to the south, and Princeton to the west. Today Montgomery is home to 24 thousand residents.
