Delta County is situated in the northern region of Michigan. The area of Delta County is about 1,992 square miles. The county was formed in 1843 from part of Mackinac County and unorganized territory, and it is populated today by 37 thousand residents. Escanaba is the county seat of Delta County. The county is named after Greek letter delta, referring to the triangular shape of the original county.
