Which cities were capitals of the United States in the past?

Before Washington DC became the US capital in 1800,  other cities had filled this task. Let's have a look at them.

Albany, New York hosted the Albany Congress in 1754 and became the first ever federal capital for a short period of 22 days.

New York, New York took the leading role as the federal capital in 1765, when the Stamp Act Congress was held there.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania became the site of the First Continental Congress in 1774.

Baltimore, Maryland, as well as Lancaster, York and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania hosted the Second Continental Congress between 1775 and 1781.

Philadelphia, as well as Princeton, New Jersey, Annapolis, Maryland, Trenton, New Jersey and New York, New York hosted the Congress of the Confederation between 1781 and 1788.

New York and Philadelphia hosted the United States Congress between 1789 and 1800, when the capital was finally moved to its current place, Washington DC.
