Who was the first to reach the North Pole?

If you believe, they put a man on the North Pole :) Two American explorers, Robert Peary and Matthew Henson, accompanied by four Inuit men, are believed to be the first humans who visited the North Pole on 6 April 1909.

But that's not all! Another American explorer named Frederick Cook claimed to have got to the North Pole as early as April 1908, but he failed to provide a solid proof to that expedition, so his claim wasn't widely believed. Both Peary and Cook did not provide scientific evidence to their success in reaching the North Pole, so the question Who Did It First remains a subject of controversy. The first 100% proven expedition to the North Pole was lead by the famous Norwegian Polar explorer Roald Amundsen aboard an airship in 1926.
