Why does the Moon look like a disk rather than a ball?

The reason why the moon looks totally flat while being a ball shaped object, is its color.

The moon's surface is absolutely black, so it cannot reflect light. Instead it disperses light in every possible direction so the moon looks flat to an observer on Earth.
