This well known county is named after Colonel Joseph Habersham (1751-1815), a hero of the Revolutionary War; U.S. Postmaster General in the Cabinet of George Washington. The county seat of Habersham County is Clarkesville. The county's area is about 278 square miles. Established in 1818, today Habersham County is home to 47 thousand residents.
