No written language has been found at Cahokia, and the Mississippian culture is not known to have used writing in the traditional sense. Instead, they likely communicated complex ideas through oral tradition, symbolism, and iconography found in pottery, carvings, and mound designs. Their artwork and ceremonial items reflect rich cultural and religious beliefs. The absence of writing has made it more challenging for historians to fully understand their society, but ongoing archaeological research continues to provide valuable insights.
