What are the solstice events at Stonehenge?

Stonehenge is famously aligned with the sunrise on the summer solstice and the sunset on the winter solstice. These astronomical alignments are thought to have held spiritual and agricultural significance for the Neolithic people. Every year, thousands of people, including modern-day Druids and tourists, gather at the site to celebrate these celestial events. The summer solstice sunrise is especially popular, when the sun appears to rise directly above the Heel Stone, casting light into the heart of the monument.
