The Galilee Chapel is a distinctive part of Durham Cathedral located at the west end of the building. It was constructed in the late 12th century in the transitional Norman-Gothic style. The chapel is known for its graceful columns and decorative arches. It houses the tomb of the Venerable Bede and was originally used as a space for women, who were not allowed into the main sanctuary at the time. The Galilee Chapel remains a place of quiet reflection and architectural beauty.
