The Colosseum was constructed using a combination of travertine limestone, tuff (a type of volcanic rock), and Roman concrete. Iron clamps held the stones together, and the vaulted architecture used arches for support and flexibility. The Romans also incorporated wooden structures for temporary stage elements. This blend of materials and engineering techniques contributed to its strength and durability. Many of these methods influenced Western architecture for centuries.
