The attack on Pearl Harbor happened early in the morning, around 7:55 a.m., local time.
Eight U.S. battleships were targeted, and four were sunk during the attack.
The USS Arizona still rests at the bottom of the harbor, with an eternal flame memorial above it.
Over 350 Japanese aircraft took part in the attack, which lasted about two hours.
Today, over a million visitors come to Pearl Harbor each year to learn about its history.
The Battleship Missouri, now a museum, was where Japan formally surrendered in 1945.
Pearl Harbor is home to the largest U.S. naval base in the Pacific region.
December 7th is observed annually in the U.S. as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
