Kandahar has a population of approximately 600,000 people. The majority of residents are ethnic Pashtuns, with smaller communities of Hazaras, Tajiks, and other groups. The city has grown steadily in recent years due to urban development and migration from surrounding areas. Population density is higher in the city center than in suburban districts. Kandahar remains one of Afghanistan’s largest cities.
