When was Yosemite National Park established?

Yosemite National Park was established on October 1, 1890, making it one of the first national parks in the United States. The idea of preserving Yosemite began earlier, when President Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant in 1864, protecting the Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove. This act laid the foundation for the creation of the national park system. The park was expanded over the years to include more land, ensuring long-term conservation. Today, it spans more than 750,000 acres in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains.
