What makes Vatican City special?

Vatican City is a tiny independent state right in the middle of Rome, Italy. It’s the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church and the home of the Pope. Even though it’s only about 0.2 square miles, it’s packed with world-famous landmarks. Think St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican Museums. It’s basically the spiritual center for millions of people worldwide and a must-see stop when visiting Rome.
