Russian Gains in Ukraine Slow Sharply, NATO Concern Rises Over Drone Attacks

New intelligence shows Russia’s territorial advances in Ukraine are dropping—only about 160 square miles gained in the last month, down from much higher rates before. Ukraine lost even less land in the past week, suggesting a slowdown in offensive momentum. Still, the war is far from cooling off: massive drone attacks continue against Ukraine, and objects believed to be Russian drones have violated airspace in neighboring Poland. NATO leaders are sounding alarms, increasing diplomatic pressure and reinforcing commitments to Ukraine’s defense. All this points to a new phase—more stalemate, more indirect conflict, and continued human cost.
