The official language in Chile is Spanish. The Chilean version has its own accent, rhythm, and lots of local slang. It’s used everywhere from schools to media to daily life. English is taught in schools and used in tourism, but not everyone speaks it fluently. Indigenous languages like Mapudungun are spoken in some communities, though they’re less common. Learning a few Spanish phrases makes travel much easier and friendlier. Chilean Spanish is fast and lively—just like the people who speak it.
