The official language in Gabon is French. It’s used in government, schools, and the media across the country. Many people also speak local languages such as Fang, Myene, and Bapounou. Most Gabonese are multilingual, easily switching between French and their native tongues. English is becoming more popular, especially among the younger generation. Visitors who know some French will find communication easy. The country’s language mix reflects both its colonial history and its strong African traditions.
