Before becoming Vice President, Kamala had a long career in law and public service. She started as a prosecutor in California, focusing on community safety and justice reform. She later became District Attorney of San Francisco, where she worked on reducing recidivism. In 2010 she was elected Attorney General of California, becoming the first woman and first person of colour to hold the job. She then served in the U.S. Senate, where she worked on issues like healthcare, criminal justice, and immigration. Her sharp questioning during hearings made her a standout figure. All that experience set her up for national leadership.
