Lenawee County is situated on the southern edge of Michigan. The area of Lenawee County is about 761 square miles. The county was set up in 1822 from part of Monroe County, and it is populated today by 99 thousand residents. Adrian is the county seat of Lenawee County. The county is named after a Schoolcraft pseudo-Native American name for man, from either the Delaware leno or lenno or the Shawnee lenawai.
