Livingston County is located in the central region of Michigan. The county seat of Livingston County is Howell. The total area of the county is about 585 square miles. Founded in 1836 from parts of Shiawassee County and Washtenaw County, today Livingston County counts over 195 thousand inhabitants. The county is named after Edward Livingston (1764-1836): second Secretary of State in the Andrew Jackson administration.
