Missaukee County is located in the central area of Michigan. The county seat of Missaukee County is Lake City. The total area of the county is about 574 square miles. Established in 1840 from part of Mackinac County, today Missaukee County counts over 15 thousand inhabitants. The county is named after Missaukee, an Ottawa leader who signed land-grant treaties in 1831 and 1833.
