Montmorency County is located in the central portion of Michigan. The county seat of Montmorency County is Atlanta. The total area of the county is about 562 square miles. Founded in 1840 from part of Mackinac County and unorganized territory, today Montmorency County counts over 9 thousand inhabitants. The county is named after House of Montmorency, influential in the history of French Canada.
