Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe, standing at 4,808 meters (15,774 feet) above sea level. It lies on the border between France and Italy, with its summit claimed by both countries. The name means “White Mountain” in French, referring to its snow-capped peak.
