Charlie Kirk, conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University and later died. Law enforcement officials call the attack a “political assassination” and are still hunting the shooter, who allegedly fired from a rooftop distance. Two people were briefly detained but released; there’s no clear tie yet to either. President Trump, governors, and both parties have condemned the violence, calling it unacceptable in public life. Flags are being ordered half-staff to honor Kirk, and campus security and FBI are investigating.
