Hebrew is the official language, and Arabic is also widely spoken, especially among Arab communities. English is commonly used in cities and tourist areas—menus, signs, and public transportation info are often in English too. Many Israelis speak multiple languages, including Russian, French, and Spanish, due to the country’s diverse population. So, even if you don’t speak Hebrew, you’ll get by just fine. A few basic Hebrew phrases like “Shalom” (hello) or “Toda” (thank you) can go a long way and are appreciated.
