Kenya’s currency is the Kenyan shilling, and you’ll use it for most day-to-day purchases. ATMs are common in cities and tourist hubs, and credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, lodges, and bigger restaurants. Mobile money is huge, while smaller stalls and markets usually prefer cash. Bring a backup card and split your cash in different spots just to be safe. Let your bank know your travel dates so they don’t flag your transactions.
