Honestly, renting a car is the way to go if you want to see more than just your resort. Maui doesn’t have the kind of public transportation that makes exploring easy, and a lot of the cool spots are spread out. Driving gives you freedom to hit remote beaches, do the Road to Hana at your own pace, and check out upcountry towns. Parking can be tricky in Lahaina or near popular beaches, but most hotels have guest parking. Just know island driving is chill — no need to rush, locals aren’t into honking. If you don’t want to drive, tours cover the big attractions, but you’ll be on their schedule. A rental really makes exploring the island way easier.
