Orange County is situated in the northern-central North Carolina. The county is named after Prince William V of Orange (1748-1806), the last Stadtholder of the Dutch Republic. The area of Orange County is about 401 square miles. The county was founded in 1752 from Bladen County, Granville County, and Johnston County, and it is populated today by 149 thousand residents.
